Dissolving into the Fog of Unknowing and Releasing Dormant Emotions

The Full Moon in Capricorn, on Monday, June 29th, at 7:55 pm EST, presents a paradox of expressions. On the one hand, we may be deep in our emotions; on the other, we may be stoic and practical about our feelings. In one moment, our minds may feel clouded and disoriented, and in another, quick, clear, and sharp.

As we lean into the dual nature of these experiences, we come into a more holistic understanding of them and ourselves. While clarity may only come in flashes and emotions may run high at times, this is a Full Moon of surrendering to the moment. Fall into a flow of expression, remaining every curious about what is coming up for you, moment by moment, even when opposites collide, and the mind doesn’t understand.

Below, I’ll share the main planetary alignments pointing to this theme of paradox and how we can best work with these current energies. Allow your body and emotions to come online as you read through this. Trust that whatever stands out to you is the medicine you are most meant to receive at this time.

Full Moon in Capricorn Overview

During this Full Moon, the Moon is at 8° Capricorn and the Sun is at 8° Cancer. Full Moons are about illuminating what’s hidden, so they often bring up dormant energies we’ve been unaware of. Since the Moon is connected to our inner, emotional, and intuitive world, Full Moons often heighten our emotions, intuition, and psychic abilities.

However, the Moon in Capricorn is in its sign of detriment, which means the energies don’t easily resonate. The Moon rules Capricorn’s opposing sign, Cancer, which is where the Sun, Jupiter, Mercury, and the asteroid Hygea are currently located. Cancer and the Moon are closely tied to emotions, intuition, sensitivity, caring for others, and our private inner world.

Capricorn, being the opposing sign ruled by Saturn, prefers to lean on logic, reason, structure, achievement, and discipline rather than the world of emotions and intuition. This Full Moon can be a bit tricky as we try to navigate our emotional reactions with a practical approach. This Moon may be asking you to be more objective or rational with your emotional reactions, whereas on the flip side, it may be asking you to be less rigid with yourself and to allow your emotions to flow fully.

Due to the other planetary placements and configurations, I believe it’s the latter we are most meant to lean into. However, we want to keep the wisdom of reason and logic in our back pocket — especially when emotions run high.

On the day of the Full Moon, Mercury turns retrograde. The mind, normally directed at the external, has now turned inward within the watery depths of Cancer. We may be more aware of our emotions, intuition, and inner wisdom. Simultaneously, the mind may struggle to make sense of our feelings and intuitive knowledge. We may know something deeply but be unable to explain or express it. This isn’t a time for the mind to fully know, but a time for trusting the wisdom of our emotions, body, and the flow of energy.

Another dynamic contributing to the mental confusion is the Full Moon square Neptune in Aries. A square is a challenging aspect, presenting conflict and tension between the planets. With the Sun and Moon square Neptune, we could be experiencing disorientation, confusion, foggy thinking, and a lack of mental clarity.

Neptune is the planet of illusion, disillusion, and fantasy. With Mercury retrograde in Cancer (and Mars conjunct Uranus in Gemini, which we’ll cover more later), there’s a strong potential for creating distorted stories from a wounded/egoical place. Pay attention to any stories you’re weaving and the underlying emotion from which they’re originating.

It’s easy to fall into illusions and unhealthy fantasies at this time. If you notice yourself doing this, there is a deeper emotion, need, or wound that isn’t being addressed. Addressing the root of the fantasy or story may lead to healing and emotional release, which is also greatly supported under this Full Moon.

Because Neptune is in Aries, this dynamic could also point to the illusion of separateness with Self and Source. You may be feeling disconnected from yourself at this time, and may not understand why. This could instigate me-vs-you projections and wounds of feeling isolated and alone. The deeper wisdom of Neptune in Aries points to the celebration of individual consciousness within the unifying field of oneness.

In its higher expression — and perhaps the antidote to feelings of separateness — the Full Moon square Neptune (and Mercury retrograde in Cancer) points to entering a deep meditative state to receive wisdom and healing from within. Safely entering an altered state of consciousness through shamanic journeying, breathwork, or other practices will support us in receiving the guidance we are most meant to receive at this time.

This is not an easy placement to navigate. It strips us of our egos and masks, leaving us feeling raw, vulnerable, and exposed. We may be disillusioned with the past beliefs and conditionings we oriented our reality around. All of it — the confusion, the disorientation, the fantasies, the feelings of separateness — is pointing to finding a deeper, more authentic truth within.

Surrender to the Neptunian fog that lifts away what no longer serves, dissolve into the discomfort of not knowing, and have faith that your Higher Self is guiding you through this process. There is deeper work occurring in the undercurrents of our being, and though we may not understand why or what is happening, I know that we are being called to trust that there is a Divine purpose to the unfolding we’re in.

Reflective Questions:

  • What emotions have been asking for my attention lately? Do I give myself space for them to flow?

  • How can I support the release of emotions in my body?

  • What stories have I been telling myself recently? How do these stories make me feel, and are they rooted in fear, love, or something else?

  • What deeper need, grief, longing, or fear might exist beneath the stories my mind has been creating?

  • Where do I feel disconnected from myself, others, or the Divine? What practices help me remember my innate connection?

Uranus conjunct Mars Square the Nodes of Fate

One configuration we want to watch out for around the time of the Full Moon in Capricorn is Mars conjunct Uranus in Gemini. This is one of the paradoxical placements, as Mercury retrograde in Cancer (plus Full Moon square Neptune) points to cloudy, unclear thinking. However, Mars conjunct Uranus in Gemini represents quick, sharp thinking and communication.

It also represents impulsive action. A thought drops in, and an immediate reaction follows. This can be beneficial or detrimental, depending on where the thought originates and the state you’re in.

If you’re in a creative, aligned flow state, this alignment is pure magic for artistic self-expression. If you’re in an argument with someone and completely dysregulated, it could lead to sharp, cutting words and dramatic escalation.

Mars conjunct Uranus is square the nodes of fate. This marks a karmic choice point. How will you respond in moments of tension? How will your inner warrior choose to navigate a situation? Will you return to old patterns of response, or try something different?

There isn’t a right or wrong answer, for even returning to old patterns can be illuminating and ultimately healing (if we recognize it happening). The most important thing is to pay attention — pay attention to your thoughts, reactions, and impulses. Stay curious about the state you’re in and be aware of how your inner warrior and action-taker are showing up for you.

Reflective Questions:

  • What situations tend to activate my instinctive reactions? What emotions or wounds lie beneath those responses?

  • When I feel triggered, how does my inner warrior typically show up? Is it protective, defensive, avoidant, aggressive, or grounded?

  • What recurring patterns of action or communication am I being invited to recognize during this Full Moon?

  • Where in my life am I being presented with a choice between an old pattern and a new way of responding?

  • If I approached my impulses with curiosity rather than judgment, what might they reveal about my unmet needs, fears, or desires?

Chiron T-square: Deep Emotional Healing and Release

There’s no sugar-coating it — this is a tough Full Moon to navigate. Not only do we have the dynamics occurring above, but Chiron — who represents our deepest wounds — is now the focal point of a T-square. Pluto in Aquarius is opposing Isis (in Leo), Mercury, Jupiter, and Hygea in Cancer. All of these planets are square to Chiron, highlighting and triggering our deepest wounds.

Chiron just moved into Taurus and will be there briefly before moving retrograde back into Aries in September. Chiron won’t officially be in the sign of Taurus until April 2027.

Taurus is the sign of fixed earth, representing the physical body (especially the senses), the earth, and resources. With Chiron in Taurus, this is pointing to wounds around money, inner worth, and our relationship to the Earth and our bodies.

With Chiron now square to all the planets listed above, we are being guided to bring our awareness deep within ourselves and emotions (Mercury retrograde in Cancer). We are being called to release dormant emotions, to let them flow through us, and to face our shadow patterns (Pluto).

In courageously traversing our inner world of emotional depths, we will receive the gifts, blessings, and teachings (Jupiter in Cancer) awaiting us after the emotions are released.

With Hygea and Isis in the mix, this is also pointing to deep healing. By bringing our consciousness to our shadow, and releasing the emotional energy entangled with it, we may experience a profound healing and release from the wound we’re navigating.

And in doing so, we activate the magic of Chiron, in which our deepest wounds transform into our greatest gifts and services to humanity. It activates our unique potential and purpose, allowing us to use the wisdom, lessons, and compassion we gained from healing our wounds to help others in their own healing journeys.

While the patterns of this Full Moon point to emotional intensity and the triggering of old wounds, I believe it is ultimately for our own healing and liberation. Pay close attention to your emotional world, triggers, conflicts with others, and see if these experiences are pointing to a deeper pattern you’re now ready to face.

And let us not forget that the Moon is in Capricorn. This placement reminds us to ground ourselves, come back into our bodies, and look at things rationally. It’s truly a balancing act of full emotional expression and release, and knowing when to come out of the emotions and objectively observe where they’re coming from and what they’re pointing to.

I also want to specifically point out the opposition between Pluto and Isis, because that aspect in itself holds powerful wisdom. I believe this opposition is calling us to remember our Sacred Origins and to reconnect with our Soul. To heal and release past life conditioning, beliefs, desires, and identities that no longer support our souls' evolution. This is about – again – bringing consciousness to our shadow, to our underworld. This is a time for karma clearing, deep wound healing, emotional release, surrendering to the body’s wisdom, and letting the mind go.

It all comes back to emotional healing and moving more fully into our authentic truth within.

Reflective Questions:

  • What emotions, memories, or wounds have been resurfacing lately? What might they be asking me to witness or heal?

  • Do I feel safe in my body? What happens when I bring my full presence to my body?

  • What part of myself have I judged, rejected, or hidden that is asking to be met with compassion?

  • How could my deepest wound become a source of healing, service, or compassion for others?

  • What old identities, beliefs, or ways of relating no longer feel aligned with who I am becoming?

Practice Ideas

For the Full Moon in Capricorn, I encourage you to set aside time for a deep, meditative practice, whether that’s through yoga, traditional meditation, feminine practices, or plant medicine ceremony. Give yourself time and a container to enter an altered state of consciousness to dive fully into your inner world.

An intention or focus for your meditation could be “What is in my shadows that I am now ready to face?”

Because there is a strong emotional component connected to this Full Moon, what you may need to face is an underlying emotion. Take time to really notice how you’re feeling. Drop the mind and focus on your emotions.

What’s underneath the surface? Can you go deeper into that emotion? What visuals, memories, thoughts, or sensations arise with that emotion? Can you go even deeper into it?

How does your body want to express this emotion? Do you need to let yourself fully sob? Do you need to scream and rage into a pillow? Do you need to dance, stomp, shake, or roar? Do you need to make noises, hum, or sing? Do you need to allow yourself to express uninhibited joy? Give yourself and your body full freedom to move the energy however it needs to.

In addition, pay close attention to your dreams at this time. With Neptune square the Sun and Moon, the lessons of this time may come through symbolic language. If you have a potent dream around this time, you could have a practice of re-entering the dream through meditation to learn more about what it means.

Above all, this is a Full Moon for being in your body, your inner world, and releasing your emotions in whatever way best serves your highest path forward.

With love,
