Initiating Action from a Place of Inner Harmony

Can you feel the rising of energy? We’re now fully in Aries season, and with that came a great shift in energy. There’s momentum; a fire growing within to move forward, to take action, to initiate that which is calling to us.

The Full Moon in Libra, on Wednesday, April 1st at 10:12 P.M. EST, is reminding us to direct our fire with care. To not move so quickly that we miss the beauty of the season emerging around us.

In this guide, I’ll share why the energy is pointing to balancing our actions with our inner state of being, as well as other prominent themes of this Libra Full Moon. Each section comes with reflective questions to help you deepen into and experientially work with this lunar cycle.

Allow your body, your intuition, to speak to you as you read through this report. Notice what stands out, what lights a spark within, and know that this is the thread of wisdom you are meant to follow.

Full Moon in Libra Overview

Full Moons represent a culmination; they are the flower blooming from the seed planted on the New Moon. They are a time for revisiting the intentions or experiences you had around the New Moon, and seeing how those have come into fullness in your life.

Full Moons are also illuminating; they shine a light on what is hidden or unknown. Emotions come up more strongly, and it is harder to deny anything we’ve been keeping in the shadows.

This Full Moon is shining a light on the dynamic between Libra and Aries. Aries is the sign of cardinal fire — it is initiatory and represents new beginnings, taking action, and being courageous. With the Sun, Neptune, Saturn, Chiron, and many other asteroids currently in the sign of Aries, we’re feeling the intensity of this fire sign.

Now is a great time to take action, to start something you’ve been delaying or waiting to begin. It is a time for trying something new, of being courageous and pushing through your fears to actually do the thing. This can be a creative project, a conversation, a place you visit, or a new habit you start.

For those who struggle with self-motivation, inner courage, or ambition, this is a time for utilizing this go-getter Aries fire to finally pursue what you’ve been pushing aside. On the other hand, for those who are already running hot, highly self-motivated, and busy, you can still utilize this added momentum, but it’s essential not to burn yourself out. With this surge of energy, it can feel really easy to just keep going, keep moving, but eventually, you will need to rest.

This is what this Libra Full Moon is reminding us. We need to make sure that the actions and choices we’re taking are coming from a place of inner alignment. Aries likes to act first, think later. This can sometimes be beneficial, but if we’re acting from a place of imbalance, ego, or inner chaos, the ripple effect of that action or decision could be negative or harmful to ourselves and others.

The Moon in Libra is asking us to regulate our nervous systems, to come into our center, and to act from a place of inner balance. By doing so, we come into our sovereignty, our inner power. We make choices from an aligned and authentic place, which will tend to have a far greater and more beneficial ripple effect than actions made from a wounded or dysregulated place.

Along with inner balance, we want to make sure that whatever it is we are initiating in our lives has a solid foundation (Saturn). Aries is the initial spark of inspiration and action, but it is not a sustained fire. It burns quick and hot and then fizzles out. While it can help us get started, it doesn’t necessarily support the follow-through required to bring something to fruition.

Luckily, with Saturn in Aries, we can lean on the wisdom of the great task-master to ensure that whatever it is we wish to start, we can sustain. He is reminding us to slow down, to be structured and practical, and through consistency and determination, we can build something long-lasting.

Neptune, alongside him, is assisting us in dreaming. With our imagination, intuition, and connection to the mystery of life, we can get in touch with what it is we are really meant to initiate during this time. Neptune brings the vision, Saturn brings the plan, and Aries brings the ignition to set it all into motion.

This placement is also asking us how our actions (Aries) affect the other (Libra). For those with strong Libra placements (such as Sun, moon, or ascendant), this is a time for leaning into the higher wisdom of Aries: sovereignty and honoring your own needs.

During this time, the pattern of choosing others over yourself could show up. If that occurs, make sure that choice isn’t coming from a place of self-sacrifice. This Libra Full Moon may be asking you to draw upon the courage and assertiveness of Aries to set stronger boundaries and to choose your own needs or wishes over another's.

However, if you have strong Aries tendencies, this is a time of perhaps practicing the opposite — considering other people's emotions, needs, and desires and not just your own. Perhaps you go out of your way to help someone out, or you do something nice for your partner.

This is about finding the balance between self and others. That balance will be different for everyone, depending on your own unique makeup. This is a time for reflecting on that balance within yourself, and seeing where growth, boundaries, or acts of service may be beneficial.

Reflective Questions:

  • What intentions did I plant or experiences did I have on the New Moon? In what ways have those grown, changed, or come into fullness in my life?

  • Where in my life am I being called to have more courage?

  • What am I meant to initiate or start at this time? What new beginning is calling to me?

  • If I am hesitant to initiate something, what fears are holding me back? How can I courageously move through them?

  • If I’m busy and have lots of projects going at the same time, in what ways can I prioritize rest and slowing down?

  • When I notice that I’m dysregulated or uncentered, what helps me regulate or come back to center?

  • Do I tend to choose other people's needs before my own? If so, how can I honor my own needs during this Full Moon?

  • Do I tend to choose myself before others? If so, how can I be of service to another while still honoring my sovereignty?

Venus in Taurus: Ruler of this Full Moon

During the Libra Full Moon, Venus is at 2 degrees Taurus, which is one of her home signs. Her other home is Libra, which makes her the “ruler” of this Full Moon.

Venus in Taurus is reminding us to lean into sensual pleasure. Spend time in nature, honoring the beauty and tranquility of the land. Feel the wind on your skin, hear the birds singing from the trees, and watch the clouds glide overhead.

Sink into the peace of the present moment, immersing yourself in the sensual experience of being alive. Savor every bite of food, being fully present to the taste and sensation of it. These simple acts of presence can help balance the fast-paced energy of Aries.

You can also utilize the fire of Aries by starting projects related to Taurus and Libra energy. This includes creating beautiful works of art, decorating your home, planting seeds for a garden, or initiating a spring clean for your home or yard.

While this is a time for enjoying our creature comforts and tending to the land with this placement, there is a caveat: Venus is square to Pluto. This may require us to reevaluate our inner values, our material items, and what makes us feel safe and secure in our physical reality.

It may be a time of letting go of items you no longer need and evaluating your attachment to material things. Pluto could shake up our sense of security and safety, and make us reevaluate our attachments to what we think keeps us safe. This could be things in our physical reality, as well as how we relate to others and the power dynamics in our most intimate relationships. He is asking us to reflect on the power we give to external resources and people.

Taurus is highly resistant to change; it likes things cozy and comfortable, especially now with Venus here. Pluto doesn’t care about our comfort; it cares about our soul truth and the ways we give our power away. Whatever comforts we have become dependent on that are now out of alignment may come more strongly to our awareness. This is a time of evaluating our attachments, especially our “creature comforts,” and beginning the process of letting them go if they no longer serve.

Along with her square to Pluto, Venus is sextile to Isis in Cancer. This placement can help soften the sting of change; she is the balm to Pluto’s harsh truth bombs; she is the sweet grace of feminine wisdom rising up from the depths. But we must consciously and actively work with this part of ourselves — our inner feminine wisdom, knowing, and healing grace.

She reminds us of our wholeness, of our inherent power. Her support is readily there, but we must choose to use it. When your foundation of reality seems to be shifting under your feet, anchor into the wisdom and love within your being. Come into your center, and allow it to hold you steady. She, along with Jupiter, is reminding us of the power of faith and the inner knowing that there is an order, a meaning, to everything playing out in our lives.

Also in the mix is the dwarf planet Haumea, the Hawaiian goddess of fertility and regeneration. She is opposing Venus in the sign of Scorpio and is also square to Pluto. She reminds us that birth always follows death; that whatever we release or let die in our lives, makes room for new life to emerge. Both her (in Scorpio) and Pluto are pointing to cultivating power from our true selves — from the deep well of eternity within — rather than outside of ourselves by giving our power away to external sources.

These placements could also be pointing to reclaiming our power through the choices we make in our material reality. What do we want to support with our money and resources? This includes what food we buy, where items are sourced, how we treat the land, sustainability practices, etc.

Pluto in Aquarius is pointing to the power of bringing together our individual geniuses to create meaningful change in the world. Square to Venus in Taurus, this could look like starting a communal garden, centering community needs, and directing our resources to creating local abundance.

Reflective Questions:

  • What does it feel like to completely immerse myself in my sensual experience, focusing only on my physical senses?

  • What are things, activities, or places that bring me peace and comfort?

  • Are there any habits or patterns I do when I’m seeking comfort that no longer serve? How might I release these patterns or change these habits?

  • How attached am I to my things? In what ways do I give away my power to material items?

  • What are my inner values? Am I embodying my values through the choices I make in my everyday life?

  • In what ways am I called to support my local community?

Healing the Role of Ixion in Our Lives

During the Libra Full Moon, the Sun and Moon are in a T-square with the asteroid Ixion. In Greek Mythology, Ixion is the son of Ares (Mars in Roman mythology), and lived a life of no remorse. He continually hurt others for his own selfish desires, acting entirely from shadowy, egoic ways of being. His myths portray the cycle of trauma with the perpetrator, victim, and rescuer.

We are seeing the archetype of Ixion play out in the public sphere, but it also calls for us to confront these shadow aspects in ourselves. In what ways have we been a perpetrator, victim, or rescuer and adopted those as identities?

To heal this cycle, we have to address and heal unresolved trauma from our past, and move out of the ways we have identified with those moments in our lives. To do is to return to the wholeness within, to be reminded that we are so much more than the experiences of this life.

With the Sun and Moon squaring Ixion, they are reminding us that this cycle is both external on a larger scale, but also within each of us. When we step out of this cycle in our own lives, we are also helping the collective release this cycle.

Reflective Questions:

  • In what ways have I experienced or played the role of perpetrator, victim, or rescuer?

  • When I feel into each of these in my life, what emotions, memories, or wounds arise?

  • Am I being called to move deeper into healing trauma from my past? If so, what would best support me in that process? (Therapy, books, trusted friends, workshops, etc.)

Saturn Sextile Pluto: Transforming Inner and Outer Structures

On January 12th, 2020, Saturn and Pluto came together in a powerful conjunction. When these planets come together, they represent a redistribution of power, shifts in societal and governmental structures, and the right use of power, including the ways power is misused by authority and leadership figures.

As we all know, the covid pandemic began shortly after, dramatically altering our societal structures. That conjunction was a seed point for the Saturn-Pluto cycle, and now they have reached their next phase with this sextile. This configuration was exact on March 28th and will continue until April 5th.

This sextile is a continuation of what was initiated in January 2020. While I am sure there will be a global impact on some level — such as more revelations concerning corruption and misuse of power in our governmental structures — this will also affect us individually.

This aspect is reminding us to come into our own power and authority. As external authority structures continue to dissolve and break apart, we are called to listen to the wisdom from within. To trust our inner guidance and discernment with the information we’re receiving.

This placement is calling for the break-down and transformation of inner and outer structures so we can move into deeper alignment with our sovereignty. It is also helping us to see the ways we restrict and limit our own creative, life-force energy. The ways we hold ourselves back out of fear-based societal conditioning.

We must forge a new path, individually and collectively. We do that by honoring the truth within our hearts, by expanding our consciousness, and by recognizing the interconnectedness of all things. We do that by releasing the old paradigm of top-down, hierarchical power and moving into more equality, where we recognize the divine sovereignty in everyone and in everything.

Reflective Questions:

  • What structures in my life are dissolving or are no longer working?

  • What new structures am I meant to develop in my life?

  • What practices help me connect to my inner power?

  • In what ways do I give my power and authority away, whether to other people, systems, or beliefs?

  • In what ways do I restrict or limit my power or creative life force? Why?

  • How can I begin to embody and express more of my inner power and sovereignty?

Practice Ideas

This is a time for honoring the fire element. You can do that through meditation or having a fire ceremony. If meditating, connect with the fire element within — your life force energy, the spirit in your blood. Invite it to awaken within you.

You could imagine a fire growing from deep within, becoming larger and larger, until you are consumed by it, until you are nothing but the fire itself. Connect with the feeling of it, allow it to teach you.

You could ask, “Where am I meant to direct this fire?” Perhaps it will guide you on what you are meant to pursue or focus on at this time.

If conducting a fire ceremony, you could perform the above meditation while connecting to the essence of the fire before you. You could also write on a piece of paper what you are ready to release — such as old structures, habits, attachments, or relationship dynamics — and give it to the fire to transform.

Another simple way to honor this Libra Full Moon is to spend time in nature, being present to the beauty of the land. This is also a time for simply honoring art through its different forms, such as being creative yourself, or going to an art museum or live performance of some kind.

In addition to these practices, you could have an energetic cord-cutting meditation with a person you’re having challenges with in your life. For this practice, start with some grounding and energetic hygiene, such as movement, sound, and breathwork.

When you’re ready to begin, connect with your heart. Once you feel settled and anchored in your heart space, call upon your higher self. Through visualization and intention, create a bubble or oval of safety around yourself. Then, you will energetically travel to a place, wherever it is that feels calm and safe, as your higher self. Once there, you will call upon the higher self of whoever it is you want to speak and heal with. See them arriving as their higher, soul self.

Once they are before you, speak whatever is on your heart. Lay it all out, going into every emotion you feel towards this person. Give yourself freedom to truly feel what’s deep within regarding this relationship dynamic.

When you are finished speaking or expressing your emotions, it’s time to cut the energetic cords that no longer serve between you and this person. You can do this twice: the first is attachments you have coming from yourself towards this person, and the second is attachments coming from the other person to you. When doing this, imagine cutting the chords while saying something along the lines of: “I release (or sever) any energetic cords of attachment that no longer serve.”

If this is someone whom you desire to have a deeper and healthier connection with, you can also tune into the loving chords of attachment between you two. Infuse these chords with your love, gratitude, and desire for healing.

When you feel complete, honor the higher self of the other person in whatever way feels natural. Perhaps you imagine yourself bowing to them and saying something like: “My higher self sees and honors your higher self.” Then, you are ready to leave the environment you traveled to and return to the room you’re in. Be sure to ground yourself afterwards so that you’ve fully arrived back in your body and the present moment.

May this Libra Full Moon remind you to return to balance. To act from inner harmony, for when we are aligned within, we act in accordance with the great harmony of all that it is. May we step into greater responsibility and understanding of our powerful role as co-creators of our reality, and the great Reality of all of existence. What is your thread to weave? What is your role to play?

With love,
