Directing Our Curious Minds to Our Inner Feminine Knowing

The New Moon in Gemini, on Sunday, June 14th, at 10:53 P.M. EDT, is asking us to shift our consciousness from the swirling vortex of information outside of us and direct it deep within. Through doing so, we may perceive new aspects of ourselves that we have been unconscious of.

This is a time for delving into the shadows, for paying attention to how much information we’re receiving, and for being discerning about where we direct our focus. Below, I’ll dive into why these are the main themes of this New Moon, and share reflective prompts to help you work with this energy.

New Moon in Gemini Overview

As with every New Moon, we are entering a new lunar cycle, which symbolically represents starting a new chapter. As such, this is a time for setting intentions for the month ahead.

Because there is no moonlight during a New Moon, the night is cloaked in thick darkness. The darkness reminds us that this is a time for going within, for deep reflection and meditation; it is a time for renewal and regeneration before the light returns.

With the Sun and Moon in the sign of Gemini at 24°, we are immersed in the swirling energy of the zodiac’s twins. Gemini is often linked to the bee or butterfly, not only because they are prominent this time of year, but because their behavior is a fitting metaphor for this sign.

The butterfly spends its time fluttering from one flower to the next, its movement sporadic and flowing, easily swept into the wind. Gemini’s energy is similar to this, but instead of flowers, they are fluttering between new ideas and perceptions. As a mercury-ruled sign, Gemini is quick-thinking, communicative, and keen to process as much information as they can.

They are like a young child, soaking in all that their senses can perceive, and in doing so, they are learning about the world around them. This sign wants to know how things work; they want to understand all the details before them, and how they all fit together.

With Uranus now in Gemini, the speed at which we are receiving and processing information is increased. However, because of this, it is also easy to become overstimulated and mentally fatigued from all the information we’re now processing. It’s easy to become sucked into external stimulus and attention-grabbing information.

I believe the Gemini New Moon is reminding us to be discerning about what information we’re seeking and how much of it we’re absorbing, especially on social media and the news. There’s a fine balance between staying informed and learning new things, and information overload leading to overwhelm, fear, and mental paralysis.

While those are things to watch out for, there is also a gift to this Gemini energy: directing our curious, information-eager minds away from the external and down deep into the internal.

Reflective Questions:

  • Where is my attention most drawn right now?

  • How has the information I consume each day been shaping my thoughts, emotions, and worldview?

  • Which voices, platforms, or influences leave me feeling inspired and empowered? Which leaves me feeling anxious, depleted, or disconnected from myself?

  • What intention can I set for this New Moon that supports greater clarity, presence, and alignment with my own inner wisdom?

  • When I direct my attention inward, what do I find?

Uncovering Hidden Feminine Wisdom

During the Gemini New Moon, two prominent aspects point to uncovering new information hidden in our shadows: the New Moon opposing Black Moon Lilith, and Venus in a T-square with Pluto, Chiron, and Persephone.

Black Moon Lilith, as a dark goddess, represents parts of ourselves we had to repress or hide in order to stay safe and/or accepted in our family, community, or society. In her myth, Lilith would rather be exiled to the edge of existence than deny her truth and inner knowing. Rather than submit to the patriarchy, suppress her sexual power and sacred calling, she retreated where no one could find her.

Black Moon Lillith and the other dark goddesses represent sacred feminine mysteries that were hidden in the depths of our psyches in order to survive the patriarchal transition thousands of years ago. These mysteries are rising to the surface of our consciousness, and this New Moon is yet another opportunity to bring them further up into the light.

With Lilith opposing the New Moon, we are being asked to look at the parts of ourselves we hide or deny out of fear of others' rejection or judgment. In what ways have you denied your sexuality, and what beliefs have you inherited about sex?

For centuries, we’ve been taught that to be “more spiritual,” we must be less sexual. That sexuality was even the cause of humanity’s “downfall.” But what if none of that is true, or at least, not the whole truth? And with the rising of sacred feminine mysteries, we are reminded that sexuality is directly related to our innate life force, creativity, and embodied connection with life. It is healing and enlivening; a portal, a metaphor for the wild ecstasy and embrace of the Divine.

Black Moon Lilith is a wild woman archetype; there’s a fierceness and wild abandon to her. Embrace your wild, instinctual nature this New Moon through dance, play, time in nature, or deep meditation. Invite the wild woman to rise within you and teach you her mysteries.

Venus, opposing Pluto, who are both square to Chiron and Persephone, sheds another layer of depth to this theme. In recovering these mysteries, there also arises a great deal of pain and emotions — a grief and rage that spans thousands of years of suppression. In their uncovering, we feel an intimate wound that is both personal and impersonal, that carries the weight of our individual wounds and the collective wounds of the feminine.

Pluto is asking us to bring our consciousness to this shadowy territory, to find where our inner feminine (Venus) has been wounded (Chiron). Persephone, as Pluto’s consort and dark goddess of the underworld, will help guide us to what has been hidden and is now ready to be faced. And in facing these wounds, we can reclaim the gifts and wisdom within them.

Gemini encourages our minds to be curious, searching, and to absorb new discoveries — allow this supportive element of Gemini to take you into the underworld of your psyche. The hardest part will likely be redirecting your consciousness from outward experience to your inner world. If you feel called to explore this hidden territory of the feminine, be sure to set intentional time and space to go within.

Reflective Questions:

  • What parts of myself have I learned to hide to feel accepted, loved, or safe?

  • What beliefs about sexuality, pleasure, or desire did I inherit from my family, religion, or culture? Which of those beliefs still feels true to me?

  • When have I felt most alive, instinctual, and fully expressed? What allowed that part of me to emerge?

  • What does my "wild woman" or untamed, instinctual self want me to know right now?

  • What emotions arise when I contemplate the suppression of the feminine—within myself, my lineage, or society as a whole? Where do I feel those emotions in my body?

The Crossroads of Fate

A recurring theme that is heightened during this New Moon is the crossroads of fate: the intersection of past, present, and future. This theme is represented by Uranus squaring the Nodes of Fate. He has been squaring them for a while, and now they’ve reached a pinnacle of expression for the square is exact to the degree on this New Moon.

We’ve been increasingly exposed to this theme of letting go of the old and stepping into the new. On this Gemini New Moon, we may be confronted with this again, and perhaps even more strongly.

Pay attention to sudden disruptions, surprising conversations, and nervous system burnout and overwhelm. These could all be signposts pointing to where you are ready to evolve, and what needs to be left behind. This is a time for new beginnings, and this Gemini New Moon is asking you to now step more fully into a new version of you that has been slowly emerging in the background of your awareness.

Who is this new version of you? It does not need to be some grand transformation; rather, it is likely much more subtle. It all depends on your unique journey. Simply notice where you are being asked to grow, and lean more fully into that during this New Moon.

Hekate and Mary Magdalene are sitting at this crossroads as well: Hekate is on the North Node and Mary Magdalene is on the South Node. Hekate herself represents the guardian of the crossroads; she is helping us to see what path we are meant to explore. She is helping us remember and embrace the innate, hidden gifts we have that we are now ready to reclaim.

Mary Magdalene on the South Node is helping us release the wounds that are keeping us silenced, small, and feeling unworthy and insignificant. She is asking us to step into our power; she is reminding us that we are both human and Divine. Our humanness, with all its mess and joy, does not need to be denied to feel the Sacred within; it should be welcomed in. We are here, as eternal Souls, to have a human experience.

Reflective Questions:

  • Where have unexpected disruptions or changes recently pointed me toward a deeper truth about myself?

  • What subtle transformation has been quietly unfolding within me over the past year?

  • If I looked back at the version of myself from a year ago, in what ways have I grown and changed?

  • Where in my life am I being asked to trust my own inner guidance rather than waiting for external permission or certainty?

  • If the next version of myself could speak to me today, what encouragement or wisdom would they offer?

Practice Ideas

With the New Moon in the communicative sign of Gemini, this is a great time to reach out and start a conversation. Spend time with friends, phone a long-distance relative, or open a dialogue with someone new. Journaling is also a wonderful way to utilize this moment in time and explore what’s in your psyche.

If you’re feeling called to go deeper, consider one of the following guided meditation practices:

Power Animal Practice: This practice will help you attune to your wild, instinctual nature that is associated with the wild woman/man/person archetype. For this practice, I encourage you to stand and have space to move around.

Start with energetic hygiene and breathwork, giving yourself time to come into your body and the present moment. Once you feel ready, bring your consciousness to your root chakra in your pelvic floor area. Using movement, breath, intention, and sound, start to activate the energy here. Invite it to awaken. Play with the sensation of this area, and once it feels awakened, envision a doorway or a portal here.

Go through the doorway and enter a natural landscape. Perhaps you go into a forest, the mountains, or a meadow next to a river or lake. Trust whatever comes naturally. Take some time to explore your surroundings visually.

With your intention, invite a sacred animal totem to enter this wild space. See what animal arrives for you and see what it wants to do. Perhaps it wants to say something, take you somewhere, or give you a gift. Ask it what it wants you to know and why this animal has come to meet you.

When you’re with your animal totem, I encourage you to connect with its wild essence. If it feels right, start to merge with your animal totem until you are the animal itself. Give yourself full freedom to move and make noise — movement and sound are highly encouraged to delve into the embodied experience of this animal. Allow this animal essence to transform you into a wild creature, fully in tune with the land and your instinctual nature.

Be with this animal, or explore being this animal, for as long as it feels right. Once you feel complete, thank your animal totem for teaching you its wisdom. Return to the initial landscape you first entered and go back through the door or portal. Start to settle your energy by sitting down or standing completely still. Breathe and settle into your body, slowly opening your eyes and taking in your surroundings.

Take time to journal and reflect on your experience, making note of what you saw, experienced, and learned.

Persephone Underworld Journey: Start with energetic hygiene and breathwork to come fully into your body. Once you feel present and centered, go inward and envision a trapdoor somewhere in your body. This trapdoor leads to the deepest parts of yourself, that which you have hidden away and are unconscious of. Notice where in your body you sense and feel this trap door.

What does your trapdoor look like? Can you open it, or is it locked? If you can’t open your trapdoor, pause, and sit with the experience. Is there something you need to have to open it, such as a key or a tool to break the lock? Ask your higher self to help you open the door. Trust whatever feels right, and if you can’t open it, then leave it there and end your meditation here — that’s perfectly fine.

If you can open your trapdoor, climb down a ladder or a staircase, down, down, down until you reach the bottom. Notice what it looks like around you; perhaps it’s dark and empty, or maybe it’s an elaborate room. From a distance, you see a light coming closer to you. As it gets near, a shape takes form. It is a woman — Persephone — holding a lantern. She is here to guide you through your underworld.

Give her permission to guide you, and follow her wherever she leads. What does she have to say to you? What does she have to show you? What has been hidden that you are now ready to see? What wounds are here that are ready to heal?

Allow the experience to unfold naturally — there’s no forcing or pushing. If you get lost, gently come back to your breath and the last place you were with Persephone.

You have full freedom here to move, sound, breathe, and dance. Allow it to be an embodied experience as you experientially journey through your underworld. Once your journey with Persephone feels complete, thank her for her guidance. Make your way back to the ladder or staircase and climb back up through your trapdoor. Close the door behind you, re-locking it if it feels right.

Breathe with your eyes closed for a while and slowly return to the room around you. Journal or reflect on whatever came up for you.

May this Gemini New Moon bring you clarity, fresh ideas, and inspiring insight. May you journey deep into your inner world to discover the sacred essence of you. May your curiosity lead you to new perspectives and greater self-understanding.
